A Bit of History
Aurora was founded in the 1880s under the name Fletcher, for the businessman Donald Fletcher, who saw the area as a potential real estate opportunity. The silver crash of 1893 saw the area struggle, though, and Fletcher skipped town. The city was then renamed Aurora, after one of its municipalities.
Since then, it’s grown into a sibling city of Denver’s, with a population of nearly 400,000 and a land area that actually surpasses that of its more populous urban neighbor. Aurora is a wonderful city in its own right, with a thrumming, active population, and we’re proud to be a part of such an incredible community.
